Any person, firm, corporation or other entity desiring to install or affix an LP container, holding or capable of holding more than 20 gallons, shall first secure a permit approved by the City Administrator. Permit forms may be obtained from City Hall, 409 Main Street, Quinter, Kansas. There will be a $10.00 fee assessed for obtaining such permit. The permit must provide information showing the owner of the property upon which the container is to be placed, the location of the property and evidence that the container will comply with all necessary standards, codes and regulations including those adopted herein.

LP containers are required to be placed on concrete pads. Concrete pads must be a minimum of twelve (12) inches wide and extend a minimum of six (6) inches beyond each foot of the LP container and be a minimum of six (6) inches above grade. A footer is required for each pad extending a minimum of thirty (30) inches below ground level. The following setbacks (separation) shall be observed based upon the size of container being installed:
21 - 125 gallon 5 feet from all buildings
10 feet from side property line
20 feet from center of alley (10’ from easement)
126 - 500 gallon 10 feet from all buildings
10 feet from side property line
20 feet from center of alley (10’ from easement)
500 - 2000 gallon 25 feet from all buildings
25 feet from side property line
35 feet from center of alley (25’ from easement

There is hereby incorporated by reference NFPA (National Fire Protection Association, Inc.) 58, STANDARDS FOR THE STORAGE AND HANDLING OF LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GASES (1995 Edition), prepared and published in pamphlet form by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc. at its Fall Meeting held November 14-16, 1994, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Also incorporated by reference is the 1994 Uniform Fire Code, Article 82 pertaining to Liquefied Petroleum Gases. There shall be at least three (3) copies of said standards, which shall be marked or stamped “Official Copy as Incorporated by the Code of the City of Quinter, Kansas,” on file with the City Clerk to be open to inspection and available to the public at all reasonable hours.
